Introduction
Hats of the NKVD
Joseph Stalin had help from Soviet troops and secret police, the NKVD. Like every villian he had his accomplices to put his evil plan into action. One of their tasks was to seize any possessions from the Ukrainians, including their crops. If any opposed the system, they had to kill them. The outcome of the famine shows the NKVD were as cruel and heartless as Stalin. They went by Stalin's orders and murdered innocent people. The NKVD had many persevere from heir loss of family members, friends, and loved ones. The troops were responsible for arresting villagers and enforcing collectivization on Ukrainians.
The Soviet troops and NKVD got involved in Holodomor when Joseph Stalin became the leader of the Soviet Union. Before he became leader, NKVD was called the GPU. Him being in power allowed him to change the named. The head of NKVD was assigned by Joseph Stalin as well. Any command Stalin They played many roles during Holodomor, they put villagers in prison, they were in charge of labor camps, and killed many people. Stalin's army did everything he said. When collectivization was put into the Soviet system, troops went around and enforced them on the villagers. Whoever refused to do so were killed. They had no mercy, they killed them at that moment in front of their family if thats what it meant. When Ukrainian villagers began to rebel against Stalin, Soviet troops were there to stop them. They fired gun shots above their heads to stop them. In some cases, they even fired at the farmers, and killing them innocently. This shows that the troops weren’t as brave as they portrayed, they were as weak if they shot at innocent villagers without any reason.
